Personal Background: Brooke grew up in New Bern, NC, a small southern town. Attended Appalachian State University and studied photography and then went to the University of Western Sydney in Australia for a year to study photography. When Brooke returned she graduated and then moved to NYC and interned for Joyce Tenneson and Lois Greenfield before moving to the Outer Banks and then starting her business in 2003.
An important life event for her was when she got married and starting her buisness.
Style: Brooke shows her comfort through the photos she takes. She believes saying yes to new adventures, that at the end of the day- your feet should be dirty. Also, she believes that early in the morning she should have a cup of coffee in quiet time. She takes a lot of photos traveling, with friends & family. You can tell through the photos she takes she's very fun and spontaneous.
Philosophy: Brooke is trying to say that she loves taking photos of things that have meaning to her. She takes a lot of family photos because her family is a favorite thing to her. She has social photos of her friends that she is very close which she calls family. She's saying that she believes "friends become family". She likes taking photos with good quality and meaning.
Influences: Brooke influenced me with movement with family photos and taking photos of life events. She's really creative which makes me want to try and just take photos of life events and make albums. She inspired me to live everyday as I choose because life will fly by if you "don't open up your eyes." The lighting she has used in her photos are perfect for the meanings of the photos she had taken and still choose to take.

Compare and Contrast: 1st Photo: It's very casual and normal that when you go to a restaurant there's usually bread or something on your table to start you off with an appetizer with a drink of your choice. I don't really eat out unless it a special occasion but I chose to make something close to the picture in my own creation at home. Of course my chip bowl and my cup glass won't be fancy and more attracking but meaning I chose it out of creation it brings it out more as a photo and a story. The chips in my photos are just Lays potato chips and a glass of water because I don't drink juice or pop like that.
2nd Photo: Her photo she had taken was wine in an wine glass with it bubbling. Her photo is very attractive just because how it shows it pouring it and bubbling. I chose to make my own creation and grab a clear glass and pour strawberry milk into a glass. My photo differs because it's not as fancy and commercial as hers.
3rd Photo: I really like how Brooke took her picture of the egg starting to drop the yolk but it's clear and satisfying to look at. I didn't really understand why they chose to crack the egg inside a cup but the egg is very satisfying that it takes the focus off the cup. I just cracked an egg inside of a clear bowl and took a picture, but my photos aren't as dramatic.
Personal Artist Statement: My images show that I don't have it all like that to be fancy. My pictures were taken with standard items I had at home which could tell a story just by the images. I think the middle picture of the strawberry milk fits me most because I love strawberry milk and usually only drink it sometimes. I could buy fnacy chips but if you don't even chips why buy something fancy for pictures or even trying to impress others if that's not truly you.
